More information:
We weren't taught history highlights the absence of history in the official Nigerian secondary school curriculum. History was officially removed from the curriculum by the government in 2007, and it took around 2 years for this to be fully implemented nationwide. However, my results show its absence as early as 2005. In 2022 the government ruled that history should be introduced to the junior secondary education curriculum. The history curriculum focuses on colonial and post-colonial history, to the detriment of pre-colonial history.
