Travel Light (2023)

The painting shows a supersized person carrying a large ghana bag. In this work I explore letting go of my attachment to physical and emotional baggage, and growing to become bigger than the things that I cannot let go of. The work invites people who tend hoard and/or over-pack to explore how it impacts their life.
There is a hidden functional pocket inside the painting that can be used for holding on while letting go.

I combine elements of my life with paintings as an act of compassion for myself and my audience. The paintings preserve contemporary cultural memory.
