This is the first in an ongoing series of paintings called "Girls just want to have fun". The series sets out to explore the ways that societal expectations keep women from enjoying themselves. It is also exploring how women's participation in professional sporting activities has been historically discouraged and/or denigrated. It is my hope that the series of paintings stimulate discourse that encourages women and girls to play sports and enjoy themselves.
