Whot! has been described as Nigeria's national card game. The cards are almost as ubiquitous as the agama lizard in Nigeria. In this painting I explore "playing the game", The whot card numbered 20 is in the hand of the painted player. This special "Whot" card can be played onto any call card, and allows the player to change the game. The player is an empowered woman, calling the shots, winning the game.
