I am a contemporary folk artist, and a Yoruba woman. I have worked with multiple mediums, using simple tools and meditative processes. By intuitively experimenting with subject materials that are social, functional, and symbolic, I create art that is simultaneously personal and public. I am most fond of researching subject matters that have collective histories, including community traditions and canon events. I challenge normalized oppressions as aspects of culture, invite my audience to reimagine futures, and strengthen the participatory construction of contemporary culture.
Recently, I explored women's invisible labour with mixed media, and Nigerian cultural memory with printmaking.
